Misean Cara co-presents Mission Sunday Mass on RTÉ – Sunday 24th October 11am

“We Cannot But Speak of What We Have Seen and Heard”

For the 6th year in a row, Misean Cara is pleased to co-present a live Mass from Dublin in celebration of World Mission Sunday on 24th October. The Mass will air live on RTÉ at 11am, and Misean Cara will co-host along with MISSIO Ireland (The Holy Father’s official charity for overseas mission / www.missio.ie ) and AMRI (The Association of Leaders of Missionaries and Religious of Ireland / www.amri.ie/).

Each year, October is set aside in the Catholic Church as the Month of Mission, established in 1926 by Pope Pius XI to “foster understanding of the greatness of the missionary task, encourage zeal among the clergy and the people, make the missionary movement more widely known, and encourage offerings for the missions.”

A highlight of the month each year is Mission Sunday (held on the next-to-last Sunday of October). Mission Sunday is the day for the Catholic Church’s annual appeal for spiritual and financial support for the life-transforming work of overseas mission and missionaries. It is also a day to reflect on this important work and for Catholics around the world to seek inspiration from it to renew their own call to personal mission. If you would like make a donation in support of the work of Misean Cara members around the world, please click here.

This year the Month of Mission has as its theme ‘We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard’, a message of hope that challenges all in the Church to stand up and speak out on behalf of those who furthest behind, in the way and action of missionaries.

This year’s Mass Celebrant will be Fr. Brendan Carr of the Spiritans (and former Misean Cara Board Vice-Chair). Sr. Rosemary Oduol of the FMSA (a Misean Cara member) will also do a reading in the Mass.

The Mass will be televised by RTÉ and can also be watched live (or later) via their website .
