Our Strategy
Misean Cara Strategy 2022-2026
To achieve Misean Cara's goals, a considered, long-term strategy is essential.
Our 2022-2026 strategy is the product of consultation with our members, staff, board and donors, following a review of our achievements over the last five years, an analysis of current trends and challenges and the priorities for the future.
What's different in our new strategy for 2022-2026?
As we move into the new strategy, we will continue to build on the successes of our 2017-2021 strategy while shifting focus to recognise emerging and intensifying priorities affecting recent gains in international development.
Following on that, our new strategy emphasises the following to ensure that Misean Cara continues to add value to Irish missionary organisations working overseas and to the broader development community:
- We will increase our focus on projects that address the climate crisis and help communities to adapt and withstand shocks.
- We will consolidate and strengthen our capacity development for members to support organisational and professional development of Irish members and support localisation processes.
- We will increase our efforts to diversify fundraising to support our members’ development work effectively.
- We will review our systems to ensure we support members in the most efficient manner, while effectively managing risk and compliance, as well as adapting to changing development contexts.
Our Strategy is underpinned by a set of shared missionary values:
Respect
We show due regard for the feelings, needs and rights of others and the environment.
Justice
We are in solidarity with those who are marginalised and advocate for what is right, fair and appropriate.
Commitment
We have a long-term dedication to, and accompaniment of, people amongst whom we live.
Compassion
We must have empathy with, and understanding of, the reality lived by others.
Integrity
We ensure that all our activities are characterised by transparency and accountability.
Trust
We share a belief and confidence in the integrity, reliability and fairness of all.
