Sr Teresa arrived in Sierra Leone in 1954, shortly after finishing a teaching degree at University College Dublin. Since then she has dedicated herself to educating the nation’s youth, remaining committed even during the civil war that raged in the 1990s.
Her 2024 Presidential Distinguished Service Award honours her long, distinguished career and tireless commitment to Sierra Leone and bringing education and empowerment to students there. Read more about her award and life here.
