Conflict, Climate, Hunger: A Call to Action
Yesterday, Misean Cara joined with other Dóchas members in the launch of a public Pre-Budget submission campaign, which amongst its recommendations is that the Irish Government fulfill its longstanding commitment of spending 0.7% of GNI on ODA by increasing the ODA budget in 2024 by €305m.
Dóchas members and their partners, with their significant experience and expertise, are supporting communities to strengthen their own resilience to shocks and crises, to address their own development needs and to realise their rights.
The collective strength of Ireland’s NGOs is a valuable resource that serves to support and further Ireland’s global footprint in international development. Ireland stepped up to increase funding in response to the spiralling crisis in the Horn of Africa in 2022, and it is vital that commitments to increase continue.
Click below to watch the campaign video—which highlights the incredible involvement and impact of Irish NGOs in tackling today’s urgent crises of Conflict, Climate and Hunger and why it is urgent that the Irish government commit to an increase in ODA spending.
More information about the campaign is available on the Dóchas website, including how to get involved in reaching out to local TDs with the video and messaging: Dóchas | Pre-Budget Submission 2024 (dochas.ie)
