As part of Misean Cara’s ’15 Years : 15 Stories’ media project, this video showcases the transformative power of the Missionary Approach to Development and highlights one Irish missionary Sr. Louis-Marie O’Connor from the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny. Now in her 90s, Sr. Louis-Marie dedicated her life to the missions by working in Sierra Leone for over 40 years. She spent most of this time teaching in high school. After education, Sr. Louis-Marie then moved onto working in sustainable development in particular with people who had no received education. With staff from the high school, Sr. Louis-Marie founded the Grassroots Gender Empowerment Movement to train communities in sustainable practices to allow them to navigate their own way out of poverty.
